September
This month we talked a bit about satire. I have always found this topic to be very funny with the way people portray this. Weather it be in the Onion, an internet site that makes fun of policies in the government, or in the Colbert Report in which it too makes fun of politics but keeps you informed of the topics of today. I think a modest proposal was one of the funniest things I have read as satire. Even though it was a low satire it got its point across about poverty and overpopulation in Ireland. It might just be me but I think in todays society people would have taken that piece of satire as a literal idea and trie him for child abuse. We also talked in class a little bit about James Joyce a satirical author who also was from Ireland. He had a book published called the Dubliners which is all satirical stories. I don't think a book like that has been published in several years. I have always loved reading a store and then finding out tis a satire and re-reading it again to see all the points I have missed before. However i don't think i would be able to write a satire because i can never think of symbols or a topic to write about. But if i had too then i might be able too.
